Leighton Lyle and Clare Choi claim Dunes Medal

The final 36 holes of the Dunes Medal were played in gusting winds and 32 degree heat. Aside from a few cases of sunburn and mild dehydration, the scoring wasn t affected too much, with some brilliant finishes. In the men&aposs section of the event Leighton Lyle (Vic) finished the tournament with four consecutive 3&aposs to defeat Jason Scrivener (WA) by one shot. Leighton&aposs scores were 72 72 72 66 (282, -6). Jason scored 71 73 67 72, (283, -5). Matt Jager (WA) was third on four-under. In the women&aposs section of the event Clare Choi (Vic) shot a final round 68 (five-under) to win by three strokes from Nicole Montgomery (WA). Clare&aposs rounds were 73 68 73 68, (282, -10). Nicole&aposs rounds were 68 70 74 73, (285, -7). The round of the tournament for the women was scored by Steph Na; a six-under 67 which she scored in the final round. The win was Claress second in a row, having won the Tasmanian Stroke Play at Ulverstone six weeks ago. Click here to view all scores.
