Leishman co-leader after US Masters first round

Victorian Marc Leishman has fired a stellar six-under-par 66 earlier this morning at the first round of the US Masters to be in a share of the lead with Sergio Garcia (Spain).

Leishman, who was the only Australian to win on the US PGA Tour last year didn’t have the ideal start as he took bogey on the first hole but made up for it and more with seven birdies for the remainder of his round including a string of four consecutive through holes 13-16.

Meanwhile, the other three Aussies in the field all have posted solid starts to their campaigns with Adam Scott posting a three-under 69, Jason Day a two-under 70 and John Senden an even par 72.

Other notables include world no. 1 Tiger Woods (-2), Fred Couples (-4), Dustin Johnson (-5), Phil Mickelson (-1).
