Young Australian Marc Leishman has finished in a tie for sixth place on the Nationwide Tour&aposs BMW Charity Pro-Am behind winner David Mathis. Leishman, 24, shot a final-round 71 to finish at 12-under alongside Brendon Todd, eight strokes behind Mathis who capped a great tournament with a closing 68 for his first career title. Mathis was three shots clear of Roger Tambellini (17-under), with Matt Weibring (16-under), Bill Lunde (15-under) and Peter Tomasulo (13-under) rounding out the top five. Leishman had a mixed final day, opening with two birdies before giving the shots back at the 3rd and 5th holes. Two more bogeys on the 8th and 9th ended a frustrating outward nine before he salvaged his round with consecutive birdies on the 15th and 16th. Compatriot Kim Felton was one stroke further back at 11-under-par with Arjun Atwal, while Greg Chalmers and Won Joon Lee finished at 10-under. Mathis, who posted consecutive 65s to jump to the halfway lead, maintained his lead in the third round before holding off a host of challengers in the final round. “I just felt like I was going to win,” he told pgatour.com. “I&aposve gone into weeks where I was playing well enough to win, but this week felt different. I thought if I made the shots I needed to make and hole some putts that I&aposd be in this spot.” Final Round Scores from the BMW Charity Pro-Am Golf Championship -20: David Mathis 65, 65, 68, 68 -17: Roger Tambellini 69, 67, 68, 65 -16: Matt Weibring 66, 65, 68, 71 -15: Bill Lunde 66, 69, 67, 69 -13: Peter Tomasulo 65, 69, 68, 71 -12: Brendon Todd 70, 68, 65, 71, Marc Leishman (Australia) 68, 68, 67, 71 -11: Kim Felton (Australia) 66, 69, 72, 68, Arjun Atwal 69, 67, 69, 70 -10: Ricky Barnes 70, 71, 69, 66, Josh Broadaway 68, 72, 68, 68, Greg Chalmers (Australia) 67, 67, 74, 68, Won Joon Lee (Australia) 69, 65, 72, 70 -9: Rob Bradley 71, 66, 72, 68 -9: Cameron Percy (Australia) 67, 70, 71, 69 -9: Casey Wittenberg 69, 66, 73, 69 -9: D.A.
