Australia's Marc Leishman has continued his excellent form on the United States PGA Tour with a good finish at the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village in Ohio.
Leishman closed with a 69 in Jack Nicklaus' tournament to finish tied-fifth at 12-under, just three shots off a playoff contested by Europeans Justin Rose and David Lingmerth.
Lingmerth won the tournament with a birdie at the third playoff hole, his first victory on tour.
Leishman moved within two shots at one point but could not make up enough ground. His form has been rock solid in recent months despite a serious illness contracted by his wife Audrey, who has since made her recovery.
The Victorian, ranked 62nd in the world before this week, is already in the field for the season's next major, the US Open at Chambers Bay in less than a fortnight.
Meanwhile former World No. 1 Tiger Woods finished dead last of those who made the cut, closing with a 74 today after a humbling 85 on Saturday, the highest round of his professional career.
But Woods, who is making changes under a relatively new coach, Chris Como, remained relatively positive.
"This is a lonely sport," Woods said. "The manager is not going to come in and bring the righty or bring the lefty. You've just got to play through it. And that's one of the hardest things about the game of golf, and it's also one of the best things about the game of golf. When you're on, no one is going to slow you down. When you're off, no one is going to pick you up, either. It's one of those sports that's tough. Deal with it. For us, unfortunately, you have those days and they're five hours long.''
