Marc Leishman's strong run at the World Golf Championship Dell Matchplay came to grief at the hand of Phil Mickelson in Texas today.
Leishman, who had reached the round of 16 in the $US 9.75 million event, lost four and three to the American when he had to concede the 15th hole.
The Australian nevertheless picked up $US158,000 in prizemoney as a top-16 player on the back of his win in the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Florida the week before.
He has had an excellent run into the Masters at Augusta National next month, having played well at that venue in the past.
World No. 1 Dustin Johnson will play Japan's Hideto Tanihara in a semi-final tomorrow, while Bill Haas is drawn to meet Spain's Jon Rahm in the other semi-final.
Meanwhile Jason Day's management has reported that Dening Day, Jason's mother, has come through surgery well.
Day withdrew from the matchplay to be with his mother, who has lung cancer and has been in America for treatment.
