Click here for Photo Gallery Tuesday 24 May 2011 It was the final today in the 2011 Women’s NSW Amateur Championship (8.00am 36 holes), the Women’s NSWLGU Salver (8.10am 18 holes), and the Women’s Margery McWilliam Bowl (8.20am 18 holes), all being played at The Australian Golf Club. Number one seed, Jessica Speechley (Lake Karrinyup GC, WA) was up against seventh seed Grace Lennon (Kingston Heath GC, VIC) in the 36-hole final of the 2011 Women’s NSW Amateur Championship. The pair both started strongly, with Speechley taking an early 2up lead after nine. She stretched the lead to one more to be 3up after the first 18-holes. With rain coming down, the girls continued to battle it out. Lennon continued to fight back taking it to all square after 32 holes. In an incredible tustle, the girls went through the 36th hole, still all square. It was nervous times going down the 37th hole, with the next player to win a hole, securing the Championship. Again, the hole was squared. In what proved to be a battle of mental and physical stamina, and an incredible match between two outstanding young golfers, Lennon eventually wom the Championship on the 38th hole with a fantastic shot onto the green. 2011 Women&aposs NSW Amateur Champion, Grace Lennon In the Women’s NSWLGU Salver it was the battle of the young guns, with Celina Yuan (Bankstown Golf Club) taking on Zoe Ticehurst (New South Wales Golf Club). Despite some overall good play from Ticehurst, it was Yuan who took the match, with a convincing 6/4 victory. 2011 Women&aposs NSWLGU Salver Winner, Celina Yuan The Margery McWilliam Bowl final was between Elizabeth Buckley (New South Wales Golf Club) and Suzanne Flack (Kogarah Golf Club). Equally as good a match was the second semi-final between seventh seed Grace Lennon (Kingston Heath GC, VIC) and sixth seed Elly Cheon (Strathfield GC). Lennon defeated Cheon 2/1. Tomorrow s final will now see Speechley and Lennon play-off for the Women’s NSW Amateur Championship title. In the NSWLGU Salver semi-final matches youngster Celina Yuan (Bankstown GC) accounted for Rhonda Magner (Concord GC) 5/4, while Zoe Ticehurst (New South Wales GC) beat Sharon Nott (Dunedoo GC) in a tight match, 1up. Yuan and Ticehurst will now battle it out tomorrow in the final. The Margery McWilliam Bowl semi-finals were also held this afternoon. Elizabeth Buckley (New South Wales GC) defeated Judy Smith (The Coast GC) 4/3, while Suzanna Flack (Kogarah GC) won against Elsi Pathmanathan (Moore Park GC) on the 18th hole, 1up. Buckley and Flack will now line up against each other in the final tomorrow. Tomorrow is the FINAL of the 2011 Women’s NSW Amateur Championship (8.00am 36 holes), the Women’s NSWLGU Salver (8.10am 18 holes), and the Women’s Margery McWilliam Bowl (8.20am 18 holes). Match Play Results and Draw NSW Amateur Championship Match Play Results and Draw NSWLGU Salver Match Play Results and Draw Margery McWilliam Bowl AM MATCHES It was the second day today in the 2011 Women’s NSW Amateur Championship match play at The Australian Golf Club. The winning players from yesterday s matches tee d off in the Round of 8 this morning. In the first match, number one seed Jessica Speechley (Lake Karrinyup GC, WA) easily accounted for eighth seed Corrinne Swan (Gold Coast Burleigh GC, QLD), winning the match 5/3. Twelfth seed Fabienne in-Albon (Manly GC) continued her good form, beating thirteenth seed Claudia Lim (The Australian Golf Club) convincingly, 5/3. Fabienne will now battle it out with Speechley in the semi-final this afternoon which is set to be a great match. Seventh seed Grace Lennon (Kingston Heath GC, VIC) played very well to beat second seed Adrianna Brent (The Lakes GC) 1up. The fourth match of the day saw another upset with sixth seed Elly Cheon (Strathfield Golf Club) defeating third seed Shelly Shin (Concord Golf Club) 4/3. Lennon and Cheon will compete in the second semi-final this afternoon to determine tomorrow s finalists. It was also the first round (Round of 8) in the Women’s NSWLGU Salver today. This competition was for qualifiers 17 through 24 from the Women’s 72-hole Stroke Play Championship, with handicaps 6 to 14. Unfortunately there were two withdrawals in these matches, which saw Zoe Ticehurst (New South Wales Golf Club) and Rhonda Magner (Concord Golf Club) automatically progress to the semi-finals this afternoon. In the other two matches, Dunedoo s Sharon Nott defeated Tracey Jane-Allan (Macquarie Links Golf Club) 7/6, while youngster Celina Yuan (Bankstown Golf Club) won her match against Paige Stubbs (Pennant Hills Golf Club) 3/2. The Margery McWilliam Bowl match play also kicked off today. It was a tight tussle in the first match with Elizabeth Buckley (New South Wales GC) the eventual winner 2/1 over Kate Stewart (Cumberland GC). Judy Smith (The Coast GC) accounted for 11-year-old Pamela Tsiamis (Bardwell Valley GC) 4/3, while Elsi Pathmanathan (Moore Park GC) defeated Lynne Toomey (Beverly Park GC) 5/3. Fabienne in-Albon tee&aposs off in her afternoon semi final Sunday 22 May 2011 It was the first day of play today in the 2011 Women’s NSW Amateur Championship match play at The Australian Golf Club. The top 16 qualifiers from the NSW 72-hole Stroke Play Championship, held earlier in the week at The Lakes Golf Club, tee d off this morning. Number one seed, Jessica Speechley (Lake Karrinyup GC, WA) breezed through her match, defeating last years Women’s NSW Amateur Champion, sixteenth seed Sue Wooster (Victoria Golf Club) 6/5. Thirteenth seed Claudia Lim (The Australian GC) used her home course advantage, defeating fourth seed Ellen Davies-Graham (Redcliffe GC, QLD) 6/5 in an upset. In another upset, twelfth seed Fabienne in-Albon (Manly GC) had a strong win over fifth seed Lauren Hibbert (Pennant Hills GC) 8/6. Eighth seed Corrinne Swan (Gold Coast Burleigh GC, QLD) battled it out with ninth seed Chantal Hodson (The Australian GC), Swan eventually coming away with a 4/2 win. Playing on her home course wasn t enough for fifteenth seed Carly Beck (The Australian GC) who was defeated 2up by Adrianna Brent (The Lakes GC). It was Victoria vs South Australia in the sixth match of the day, with seventh seed Grace Lennon (Kingston Heath GC, VIC) defeating Emma Ash (Kooyonga Golf Club, SA) 6/4. It went right down to the wire in the match between sixth seed Elly Cheon (Strathfield GC) and eleventh seed Kim Burke (Shelly Beach GC), with Cheon the eventual winner 2/1. In another tight tussle, third seed Shelly Shin (Concord GC) defeated Olivia Wilson (New South Walkes GC) 2up. Tomorrow will see the Round of 8 take place.
