(8 June 2009 – Eindhoven, Netherlands)

Spain&aposs Tania Elosegui secured her first professional title with a one-shot triumph at the ABN AMRO Ladies Open at the Eindhovensche Golf Club in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Her maiden victory comes after five times finishing runner-up with the latest being her capitulation on the 72nd hole at February&aposs Women&aposs Australian Open. In second place was overnight leader, Italy&aposs Diana Luna, with Norway&aposs Marianne Skarpnord two shots behind Luna in outright third.
rn
rnLuna took a two shot lead into the final round over Elosegui but over the first nine holes there was a three shot swing. Elosegui had carded three birdies and a bogey to reach 8-under, while Luna dropped a shot on the 6th to be at 7-under through the turn. It was a rainy and miserable day for players and pars were at a premium. After 12 holes the two leaders were all tied up after the Spaniard bogeyed. Luna then regained her lead with a birdie at the 15th.
rn
rnThe action all happened over the final two holes when Elosegui managed a birdie at the par-5 17th to tie it up and it all came down to the tough par-4 18th hole with the players tied at 8-under par. Luna found the front right bunker with her second while Elosegui played a sublime approach to 9-feet. Luna managed an excellent sand save leaving Elosegui her putt for the win. She obliged and collected her first winner’s cheque for €37,500.00 to move up 4 places to third on the Henderson Money List. Afterwards she said, “I feel very, very happy because five times I’ve finished second already. Once she holed her putt I told myself ‘You have to hole this: you’re not going to finish second again.
rn
rnNo ALPG players were able to figure prominently, however Frances Bondad recorded her best result on tour after a superb final round 3-under par 69 moved her into a tie for 11th at 2-under par total 214. Next best of the ALPG contingent was Lynn Brooky who finished in a tie for 19th at even par total 216; her best result for 2009. Other players to make the cut were Lisa Jean (T37) and Karen Lunn (T60).
