Stacy Lewis is one of myriad athletes who've been moved to offer time and/or money to the recovery efforts of Hurricane Harvey in Texas.
So when Lewis, who hadn't won on the LPGA Tour since 2014, roared into contention in the Cambia Portland Classic this week, suddenly her offer to donate her prizemoney became potentially very significant.
And when KPMG, one of her sponsors, offered to match the donation, suddenly the Houston-based former world No.1 had a whole new support base.
So when she rolled in her putt for an 11th consecutive par to edge out runner-up In Gee Chun by a shot, Lewis effectively doubled the $US195,000 donation to $US390,000.
It's one of many great stories from athletes, particularly golfers in Texas' hour of need.
