Lin storms to sensational win

Marcus Both has finished in a tie for third position at the Asian Tour International on Monday. The Australian carded a final round 66 to take his tournament tally to sixteen-under par, eight shots adrift of winner Chinese Taipei&aposs Lin Wen-tang. Wen-tang carded a sensational bogey-free final round of eight-under-par to storm to victory. The 33-year-old carded a brilliant 64 to overturn a two-shot deficit and finish on 23-under-par, with South Korean teenager Noh Seung-yul finishing as runner-up, five strokes behind, after a weather-interrupted fourth round at the Pattana Golf and Sports Resort. It was Lin&aposs third Asian Tour victory, following triumphs in the 2006 Taiwan Open and the 2007 Brunei Open. Five players were tied for third on 16-under while Scotland&aposs Ross Bain, who had held the overnight lead alongside Noh, capitulated on the final round, carding a four over 76 to drop to 13 under overall. “Last night I told my wife that I will win it but she said not to be over confident,” said Lin. “Now I can&apost wait to call her. “I am very happy to win my third title on the Asian Tour.” Lin made a fabulous start, opening with a birdie on the par-four first before an eagle three on the par-five second, while the 16-year-old Noh dropped a shot at the first before reclaiming it with a birdie on the second. Noh&aposs error on the first allowed Bain to move into the sole lead with a birdie on the second, but he shot a six on the par-three third before a bogey on the par-five fifth. The Scot carded birdies on the sixth and the ninth but was one over for the round at the turn. Lin, meanwhile, added birdies on the seventh and ninth to reach the turn in five under, two shots clear of Noh overall. Noh and Lin each carded birdies on the 11th and 12th before Lin collected a three at the par-four 14th to leave Noh three shots behind. A lightning delay seemed to upset the teenager, who made a double bogey five on the 16th and finished with a 71 as Lin eased to victory. “I had played 15 holes today before the suspension and I was quite glad because I took that time to rest for a bit,” Lin added. “I came back out and knew that the remaining three holes would be very important so I kept my game steady and pulled through.” Noh, who was second in the Sail Open in India last month, was pleased with his final position. “I&aposm happy with my performance this week,” he said. “I three-putted upon my return after the suspension as I was a bit quick to hole that putt.” “But overall it has been a great experience for me and two second place finishes from two events is not a bad feat.” Fourth Round Results from the Asian Tour International, Chonburi -23: Lin Wen- tang 65, 68, 68, 64, -18: Noh Seung-yul 64, 67, 68, 71 -16: Taichiro Kiyota 71, 69, 68, 64, , Marcus Both (Australia) 70, 66, 70, 66, Ben Leong 67, 72, 66, 67, Han Lee 67, 69, 69, 67, Mardan Mamat 67, 67, 70, 68 -15: Adam Blyth (Australia) 71, 66, 70, 66, Wisut Astjanawat 67, 68, 69, 69, Jason King (Australia) 70, 64, 70, 69, Sattaya Supuprami 64, 67, 71, 71, David Bransdon (Australia) 68, 69, 67, 69 -14: Simon Griffiths 65, 69, 71, 69, Chawalit Plaphol 70, 66, 69, 69, Yoshinobu Tsukada 71, 68, 65, 70, -13: Stephen Scahill (New Zealand) Stephen Scahill 70, 70, 66, 69, Thaworn Wiratchant 72, 66, 68, 70, Ross Bain 70, 62, 67, 76, -12: Prayad Marksaeng 70, 71, 68, 67, Scott Hend (Australia) 69, 68, 73, 66 Also: -11: Ashley Hall (Australia) 70, 69, 69, 69 -10: Gavin Flint (Australia) 68, 68, 73, 69, Terry Pilkadaris (Australia) 70, 69, 68, 71 -8: Michael Wright (Australia) 68, 72, 71, 69 -7: Brad Kennedy (Australia) 69, 69, 71, 72 -6: Mitchell Brown (Australia) 71, 68, 71, 72, Neven Basic (Australia) 69, 71, 70,72, Adam Groom (Australia) 71, 70, 72, 70 -3: Mahal Pearce (New Zealand) 71, 69, 74, 71, Tony Carolan (Australia) 71, 68, 76, 70 -1: David Gleeson (Australia) 72, 67, 71, 77 +4: Richard Moir (Australia) 71, 70, 76, 75 -2: Andrew Dodt (Australia) 71, 71
