DAY THREE 5:45pm – Saturday December 8 The pairings have been announced for the final round of the 2012 Emirates Australian Open at The Lakes in Sydney. Leader John Senden and second-placed Justin Rose will tee-off at 12:20pm in what is expected to be blustery Sydney conditions. Other key pairings include Adam Scott/Matthew MIllar at 11:36am and Stuart Appleby/Kieran Pratt at 11:58am. You can check out all the tee times for the final round here. ==== 5:20pm – Saturday December 8 Justin Rose and John Senden have both spoken of the extremely tough conditions following their 3rd rounds at The Lakes. Rose said while he isn&apost worried too much about being near the front, the conditions will play a big part. “The last man standing could win the golf tournament,” Rose said. “I&aposm beginning to feel comfortable with (being in contention).” Leader Senden said that while the conditions are tough, he has to just worry about his own game. “The last two holes were almost on the edge,” Senden said. “You have to be able to control the ball (any time you play golf), but in these conditions in particular. “I know where I stand, I need to come out tomorrow and play my game. “We want to be in this position…the whole experience of it is why we play.” ==== 4:55pm – Saturday December 8 John Senden and Justin Rose will be your marquee final pairing for Round 4 tomorrow, after Marcus Fraser and Brendan Jones couldn&apost make a late charge on 17 and 18. In fact Fraser and Jones both bogeyed 18 as the wind played havoc near the green late on Day 3. There will be videos and analysis from our Columnists in the next hour or so. Right now organisers will be hoping that despite dropping 2 shots on the final two holes, Justin Rose can stay in 2nd spot at 5-under. Rose is fronting a press conference now. ==== 4:34pm – Saturday December 8 Justin Rose bogeys the 18th and is now 2 shots back from John Senden (7-under). The Par 3 18th is a windy place to be right now and the last few groups have consistently pushed their tee shots right – either into the bunker of beyond the crowd line. Cameron Percy&aposs tee shot may or may not have suffered some accidental interference before he got to it on the access path next to the clubhouse. Matthew Goggin has just finished his 3rd round of 73 to sit in equal 11th at 2-under. ==== 4:20pm – Saturday December 8 Justin Rose (-6) has bogeyed the 17th to slip into outright second, leaving John Senden (-7) in top spot. A monstrous put from overnight leader Marcus Fraser saw him pick up an eagle on the 14th, but five bogeys today haven&apost helped his cause, as he slipped back to equal 3rd with three holes remaining for the day. ==== 3:30pm – Saturday December 8 Aussie veteran Stuart Appleby has just spoken to the press following his 2-under 70 in Round 3 at The Lakes. He spoke of overcoming mental struggles in the past two years, and hopes to be in contention at the end of the day. “&aposThe game will kick you in the goolies more than it pats you in the back,” Appleby said. “If you struggle with self belief, you will struggle with your scorecard. “I know I&aposve got the talent, I know I&aposve got the resources, and I know I&aposve got the will to win.” Appleby said that the conditions at The Lakes Golf Club will trouble some players on the last day. “The wind and the greens are keeping things close,” he said. “It&aposs tough to read the greens, and tough to make the putts.” Also, Peter Senior has given himself a chance tomorrow finishing with a 69 to go 4-under. Marcus Fraser and Brendan Jones have both gone 3-over for today after starting the day at the top of the leaderboard. ==== 3:16pm – Saturday December 8 A quick shout out to Scott Gardiner who shot a 4-under 68 today. Gardiner had a woeful opening round 76, followed by a slightly better 71 in Round 2, but his back nine today was scintillating. He birdied 4 straight from 14-17 before a bogey on the 18th tempered his finish. In all he had 7 birdies today and sits at 1-under, tied for 17th. ==== 2:53pm – Saturday December 8 Justin Rose leaps clear through 12 holes of his 3rd Round. He has consecutive birdies on the 11th and 12th to move to 7-under for the tournament and -3 for today. Kieran Pratt bogeyed the 14th to drop to 3rd at 5-under, while Stuart Appleby finished his round with a 70 and sits equal 6th at 3-under the card. John Senden is back in business at 6-under for the tournament and 1-under today thanks to an eagle – this time on the 11th. The last pair to tee off today have struggled, with Marcus Fraser (4-under) and Brendan Jones (2-under) 2-over and 3-over respectively today. ==== 2:29pm – Saturday December 8 Feature columnist Bruce Young explores how Adam Scott transformed himself into a contender on the world stage. 2:00pm – Saturday December 8 Justin Rose has to settle for a par on the 9th, remains in outright 2nd at 5-under midway through his 3rd round. Kieran Pratt&aposs eagle on the Par 5 11th puts him into the outright lead at 6-under and also into the famous Eagle Club on Day 3. ==== 2:00pm – Saturday December 8 We had a quirky request from @sinclairhp on Twitter. @ausopengolf is it at all possible to get one of those cool @flying_emirates aeroplane tee markers? They&aposre amazing! We think our response has some merit… 1st you need a plane shrinking machine… RT @sinclairhp is it possible to get one of those cool @flying_emirates tee markers? #ausopengolf Got a question that needs an answer? He is 2-under for the day. Marcus Fraser is in all sorts – dropping another shot on the 5th to fall down to a tie for 7th on 3-under. ==== 1:40pm – Saturday December 8 Matthew Jones and Andre Stolz add to themselves to the Eagle Club in Round 3. Jones on the 11th and Stolz on the 10th hole. Geoff Ogilvy also eagled the 17th and Jamie Arnold did the same on 11th. But right now Scott Laycock&aposs albatross on the 14th is your performance of the day. ==== 1:20pm – Saturday December 8 Incredibly there are now SEVEN co-leaders on the Round 3 leaderboard here at The Lakes. Stuart Appleby is the most notable addition to a tie for 1st – shooting 3-under through 12 holes today. Overnight leader Marcus Fraser has dropped two shots through 3 holes today but still leads at 4-under. It recaps all the movers from this morning and is worth checking out to get up to speed for the afternoon. ==== 12:55pm – Saturday December 8 John Senden has an unhappy start to Round 3, bogeying the 1st and 2nd to drop to 3-under for the tournament. Scott Laycock has the highlight of the day with an albatross on the 14th and is now Even overall. Steven Allan started the day at 2-under but a triple bogey on the 3rd and a bogey on the 6th have left him on struggle street at 2-over. ==== 12:51pm – Saturday December 8 Another big gallery is following Adam Scott and Kim Felton today, Scott missed a gettable birdie putt on the 9th and stayed at 1-under for the tournament. Felton is 2-over today and 1-over for the tournament. ==== 12:35pm – Saturday December 8 Stuart Appleby missed a short birdie putt which would have taken him to four-under in a tie for fourth. It&aposs too early to tell whether this will be costly, but considering he has finished strongly over the first two days, he should be able to compensate for this. ==== 12:17pm – Saturday December 8 The top placings are starting to tee off, with Justin Rose and Gareth Paddison underway. Goggin/Jones, Cullen/Senden, and Jones/Fraser are soon to follow. Scott Gardiner (-1) bogeyed his last hole in an otherwise impressive day for the Australian, who finished with a four-under par 68, which sees him sit tied for 19th. ==== 12:00pm – Saturday December 8 Stuart Appleby has started to fire, with birdies on the 1st and 6th pushing him to -3 and a tie for 5th. Greg Chalmers dropped a shot at the 13th to fall back to -2 for the tournament, but he is still well in contention, while the only remaining amateur Cameron Smith has fired seven birdies today, including four straight between the 11th and 14th holes, to jump to -2 overall and a tie for 12th. The final groups are about to tee off, so be sure to make your way down to The Lakes to catch all the action.
