Jones ends his day with a 4-under 68, including 7 birdies. The final groups are in the home stretch now as Round 1 comes to a close. 5:40pm – Thursday December 6 Brendan Jones loses momentum with a bogey on 16… back to 3-under and a tie for 6th. The final groups are approaching the 18th, we&aposll track down some more recent pictures of the Par 3 hole shortly. ==== 4:55pm – Thursday December 6 Brendan Jones is now in a tie for 2nd at 4-under after his 6th birdie of Rd1 on 15. Can he move within a shot of Senden (-6)? Bruce Young examines the curious absence of Jones at this event in recent years. ==== 4:55pm – Thursday December 6 Marcus Fraser just aced the 15th… yes, we have a Hole in One people! The movers this afternoon are Kieran Pratt and Josh Geary who are currently 3-under through 11 and 9 holes respectively. John Senden remains the clubhouse leader at -6, but Richard Green has moved up to join Kim Felton, Justin Rose and Gareth Paddison in second place at -4. Senden shot a 6-under 66 after teeing off alongside fellow Aussies Matthew Goggin (71) and Geoff Ogilvy (74). While Rose (68) was the best performer in his marquee group of Adam Scott (72) and Liang Wen-Chong (73). Adam Scott (+1) and Geoff Ogilvy (+2) are still struggling towards the end of their rounds. Adam Scott (+1) and Geoff Ogilvy (+2) have both made slow starts on their front nine, with Ogilvy finding his range after two double bogeys in the first eight holes. He sits in outright first position with 4-under par, followed closely by Justin Rose (3-under par). 7:40am – Thursday December 6 The first groups are underway at The Lakes Golf Club in Sydney, with amateur Oliver Goss an early leader with two birdies in his first three holes. Justin Rose has also started well to draw level with Goss at -2.
