The Australians on course at Pebble Beach are doing it tough, with Marc Leishman, Cam Smith, Jason Day and Marcus Fraser all over-par for the day.
Leishman (+3 today), Day (+2) and Smith (+1) all sit at 1-over for the tournament and have work to do to get back into the red numbers by the weekend.
Victorian Fraser is 7-over for his second round and is now unlikely to make the cut.
The field is still hunting clubhouse leader Justin Rose who is at 7-under for the week, with American Gary Woodland emerging as the leading chaser at 6-under par.

Former World No.1 Adam Scott has made ground on overnight leader Justin Rose with another sub-par round at Pebble Beach.
Scott is the first Australian to hit the clubhouse on Friday morning where he signed for a round of 2-under 69, lifting him to 3-under for the tournament.
He sits four strokes adrift of first round leader Rose, whose second-up 70 takes him to 7-under for the tournament – currently enough to be one stroke clear of the field.
A double at the last has all but ended Aaron Baddeley's hopes of qualifyfing for the weekend, the Victorian following yesterday's 72 with a 75 today to be 5-over for the tournament.
Sydney's Matt Jones returned an even-par-71 on Friday but looks to be at least one stroke shy of missing tonight's cut, Jones currently at 3-over for the championship in a share of 89th.
Fellow New South Welshman Brett Drewitt will also miss the weekend's action in his major championship debut. Drewitt improved on yesterday's 77 with a 76 in the second round to finish at 11-over for the week.
Aaron Baddeley was flirting with the cut line late in the day after a birdie on 17 but a double bogey on the par-5 18th left him languishing at 5-over for the tournament, ending his week.
