Long all but home

Perth-based New Zealander Michael Long has all but wrapped up the WA PGA Championship after clearing out to a six-stroke lead after the third round. Long fired a third-round 69 at The Cut Golf Club to put him at 10-under – six ahead of his nearest rival, Victorian Peter Wilson (70). New South Welshman Leigh McKechnie was not to be outdone, however, soaring up the leaderboard with a course record eight-under 64. Beginning the day at five-over, McKechnie produced a flawless display producing birdies on 1, 3, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 18 to move to three-under and outright third. Defending champion Jason Norris from South Australia slid out of contention following a disappointing five-over 77.
