A delighted Hannah Green has taken out the low amateur at the ISPS Handa Australian Open in Adelaide.
Green was masterful in the most testing conditions of the tournament, putting together a final round 69 that featured five birdies and just two bogeys.
Overall, Green was 4-under par and on the cusp of the top 20, three ahead of Korean Hye Jin Choi who dominated in the still morning with her final round 67.
Green was oblivious that her five stroke advantage had all but whittled away by the time she teed off in the afternoon.
“I didn’t see any of the scores this morning,” said Green.
“I’m actually kind of glad I didn’t know that. It’s really cool (to win the low amateur). I won it once before in New Zealand and it was pretty cool to be up (at the presentations) with Lydia. That was the first time I formerly her.”
“It will be interesting to see who I’m with today.”
Just an hour later, it would be Japan’s Haru Nomura who took the title from under the nose of Ko thanks to an incredible 7-under final round display.
With a run of three straight top 20 finishes in professional events, Green will head to the Gold Coast to play the RACV Ladies Masters.
“I have a lot of confidence going there,” said Green.
“Hopefully I can put four good rounds together next week.”
