Australia&aposs Tamie Durdin has finished outright 10th in the first stage of qualifying for the 2010 LPGA Tour. After setting herself up for the week with an opening round of 6-under par 66, Durdin completed the task of finishing amongst the Top-30 plus ties, with rounds of 74, 73 and 71. She will now contest the Final Qualifying School in Daytona Beach, Florida in the first week of December.

rnFormer Duke University Alumnae and FUTURES Tour player, Amanda Blumenhurst led the way with a four round total of 16-under par total 272, to gain Medallist Honours, six strokes clear of Spain’s Azahara Munoz. Munoz, a University of Arizona graduate, is the reigning British Ladies Amateur Champion and also finished runner-up at the 2008 U.S. Women’s Amateur. Golf experts in America tip her to have an outstanding future after an outstanding college record.

rnLET players to have visited Australia in recent times who also made the December tournament were Spaniards Emma Cabrera-Bello (4th) and Beatriz Recari (T23), and Denmark’s Iben Tinning (T20).

rnAustralia had four other representatives competing with Kristie Smith (T46) and Leanne Bowditch (T61) both making the 36-hole cut but faltering in Saturday’s third round to fall out of contention. Stephanie Na and Nikki Garrett failed to make the cut. These players have a second opportunity to make the Final Qualifying School with another set of Sectional Qualifying to be held in Venice, Florida from 29 September.
