Kerr, who started the final round with a commanding 8-shot lead fired another flawless round of 6-under par 66 to finish at 19-under par and an incredible 12 shots clear of the field at Locust Hill Country Club. In a tournament where it seemed Kerr was from another planet to the rest of the field, rounds of 68, 66, 69 and 66 only realised four bogeys for the entire week. Her winning margin of 12 shots broke the record for the largest winning margin in a women’s Major championship, beating the old record held by Betsy King (11 shots) in 1992. Her first Major was the US Women’s Open in 2007 and this is her 14th career LPGA title. She is tipped to be the new World No.1 when the Rolex Rankings are released early tomorrow morning, the first American to hold the post since the rankings became official.
