LPGA of Japan – INVITE WINS BRIDGESTONE

(23 May 2011 – Aichi Prefecture, Japan)

rn

Japan&aposs Harukyo Nomura made the most of her invite to the Chukyo TV Bridgestone Ladies on the weekend, posting a 3-shot victory over tour regulars Kaori Aoyama with Sakura Yokomine another two shots back in outright third.
rn
rnNomura began the final round with a 2-shot buffer over last year’s Money List winner Sun Ju Ahn with another 12 players within 5 shots of the lead. However, by the time they made the turn everyone else was playing for the minor placings.
rn
rnNomura had begun steadily with five straight pars while Ahn had picked up a shot at the second hole to reduce the gap to just one. However, the tournament changed rapidly on the 6th hole where Nomura made birdie while Ahn made a quadruple-bogey 9, leaving Nomura five in front of Aoyama and Yokomine. The tournament was effectively over when Nomura made another birdie at the 8th hole and she coasted around the back nine picking up two more birdies to post a bogey-free 4-under par 68.
rn
rnNomura is a rookie on both the LPGA and FUTURES Tours where she won the Daytona Beach Invitational in April.
rn
rnTamie Durdin was again the best of the Australians posting rounds of 67, 73 and 73 to finish in a tie for 21st. Nikki Campbell also made the cut finishing one shot behind Durdin in a tie for 26th.
