Lukas heading to NSW Open

Lukas Michel has booked his spot in the NSW Open at Twin Creeks after a nail bitting playoff at the Rich River Open Amateur.

Metropolitan's Lukas Michel and Kooindah Water's Lloyd Radcliffe both finished at 3 under par 141 for the 36 hole event. Needing just two extra holes to secure his spot, Michel kept his nerve and claimed victory.

Lachlan Aylen from Heidelberg GC stormed home with a final round of 67 to miss out grabbing a spot in the playoff and eventually finished in thrid place at 2 under par total of 142.

Lynwood's Joel Wheatley could not match his first round score of 69 which saw him just one shot of the pace falling back to finish in fourth place at a respectable 1 under par total of 143.

Lukas Michel has been a vital part of the Men's Victorian Interstate Series Team that went back to back earlier in the year. He was excited for the opportunity to play in his first NSW Open and looks forward to the challenge.

"Both Rich River courses were in beautiful condition. The quality and size of the field was great for our first year and I believe that next year this event will be bigger and better again, " Shane Gloury CEO, Rich River Golf Club.

Rosebud's Greg Wilson and James Lavender of Northern GC both secured their spots in the 2019 Lincoln Place NSW Senior Open being held at Thurgoona Golf Resort in late October.

Wilson carded a solid total of 148 (+4) with rounds of 77 & 71 to grab top spot in the over 50 year age catergory.
