Luke and Nicholas bound for Scotland

Aussies Shane Luke and Geoff Nicholas have qualified for the inaugural EDGA Scottish Open next month in North Berwick.

Luke and Nicholas will be two of the 10-player field teeing it up in the new 36-hole tournament for golfers with a disability.

The event will be played on the same course at the same time as the European Tour's ASI Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club.

That means Luke and Nicholas will get the chance to play alongside some of the biggest stars of the men's pro game, such as Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka and Justin Thomas.

The new event on the EDGA calendar comes on the back of the ground-breaking Australian All Abilities Championship in November last year.

The 12 leading golfers on the World Rankings for Golfers with Disability (WR4GD) played three competition rounds at the Lakes Golf Club at the same time as the Emirates Australian Open.

European Tour CEO Keith Pelley has been working closely with EDGA to provide more opportunities for all abilities golfers, with the vision of creating a separate world tour.

“This event in Scotland is a watershed moment, as we work, alongside EDGA, towards our aspirational goal of a ‘Golfers with Disability World Tour’ by 2021,” Pelley said.

Scoring and event coverage for the EDGA Scottish Open will be integrated through the European Tour website and European Tour App.
