Sweltering conditions greeted players at the stunning Eastern Golf Club for the annual Yarra Courses Senior Amateur.

It was a record capacity field of 108 players this year with some players even missing out on the reserve list.

In the men’s section, Greg Holmes (Broadford) produced a super score of one-under 71 to win by two shots over Guy Krall (The National).

Krall snatched up the handicap section after finishing with nett 69 off a handicap of four to nudge out John Hoare (Pakenham) on a countback.

A special mention must go to Pat Giles (The National) who continues to shoot below his age and he did so again with a 74 off the stick today.

Sue Lush (Gardiners Run) continued her hot start to her 2019 campaign by taking out the women’s scratch stableford with 23 points.

Eastern’s Donna Harris claimed the runner-up prize on her home track with 18 points.

The women’s stableford competition saw some excellent scores and it was Cheryl Kelly (Devilbend) who triumphed with a whopping 40 points, narrowly defeating Trish Barr (The National) by one.

The next event on the senior calendar is the Kooringal Senior Amateur to be played February 19-20.

A huge thanks to everyone at Eastern Golf Club for their efforts and outstanding hospitality.

Thanks to all players for participating and we look forward to seeing you in future events.
