Jarrod Lyle has hit the gym since returning to Australia in a bid to improve his game ahead of his next PGA Tour event at the Frys.com Open in October.
"I have been working very hard in the gym the last 2 weeks trying to get myself fitter and stronger,” Lyle blogged on his official website.
"It’s a part of my golfing life that has never been a priority but after the first half of this year getting no results on the course I thought something needed to change and this was the one area that I could see a huge improvement."
Lyle will structure his weeks differently to what he has done in the past with the majority of his time (up to six days) spent doing weights programs and cardio sessions.
“I now have to find time to squeeze in some golf practice." Lyle quipped.
But the golf course will become the focus again soon enough.
"When August comes around I will be playing a lot more golf and incorporating the gym work around my golf ". he said.
As the return draws closer, Lyle will even take the extra step of simulating the tournament experience so that his body and mind become completely accustomed.
"I am planning to play every week in tournament mode around home (Torquay) and then maybe Melbourne for a week. Seeing what I have to do when I stay in a hotel and travel to the course every day. Finding a gym and doing my work outs and everything else that comes with it." Lyle said.
The Frys.com Open is played from October 9-12 at the Silverado Country Club in Napa, California with a purse of $US6,000,000.
