Lyle lands Nationwide win

Australian Jarrod Lyle has defeated American Chris Kirk in a sudden death playoff to win the Knoxville Open in Tennessee. Lyle birdied the extra hole, the par-five 18th, while Kirk managed a par after the pair was locked on 19-under-par after the regulation 72 holes. Greg Chalmers carded a final round of 66 for ninth to be the next best Australian ahead of Wade Ormsby (68) on 11-under-par and Won Joon Lee on minus seven. Lyle&aposs victory, the sixth by an Australian on the second-tier tour in 2008, saw him return to the top of the Nationwide Tour money list. Lyle can book a berth in on the 2009 US PGA Tour if he wins again on the Nationwide Tour this year. Other Australians to have won on the 2008 tour are Ewan Porter, Gavin Coles, Aron Price and Chalmers.
