In an excellent match where several holes were won with birdies, MacGillivray and Faram birdied the eighth and ninth to turn two holes clear. A further win on the 11th with a par three saw the lead extend to three holes.
Elliott and Laurito pulled one hole back at the 12th after the Metro pair found trouble off the tee. However a superb iron by Faram onto the putting surface at the par three 13th followed by a great eight metre downhill birdie putt by MacGillivray restored the lead.
The 14th was halved in bogeys after both pairs took three from either on or just short of the green before the Eastwood duo kept their hopes alive by winning the 15th, despite giving their opponents a stroke on the hole.
After Elliott found sand with his tee shot at the par four 16th, MacGillivray capatalised with a superb drive to within 40 metres of the green. Laurito found the greenside bunker with her approach and after Faram played a perfectly judged approach putt to within two metres of the hole, the match was almost over.
When Elliott couldn’t find the green with his bunker shot, the Eastwood pair conceded the hole and the match in one of the highest standard finals in recent memory.
