By Geoff Ogilvy Victorian super hero Geoff Ogilvy is hoping to add the Stonehaven Cup to his growing collection of silverware. Here the reigning US Open Champion talks about his desire to claim his national title and his love for Australian cuisine. There is arguably no greater prize for an Australian than a win at the Australian Open, so a victory here would obviously rate very high on my career achievements list. Playing at home is the best. We don t get many chances to play at home, so I really look forward to the MFS Australian Open. Given this event has been played on some of the greatest courses definitely adds to the appeal. It’s nice to hear the Aussie accent in the crowd, especially when I have been away for a long time. But I have to admit, the first thing I do when I get home is have a good meal. I miss Aussie food as they just don t get it quite right in the States. It would be a thrill to win this year s MFS Australian Open to add to my US Open victory. My win there was beyond anything I could have imagined. It has definitely opened doors for me that may not have been opened before and I must say, it was fun to sign autographs and attract media attention. People place more importance on my opinion than they used to which I find quite amusing. Becoming somewhat of a celebrity after my win was kind of overwhelming, especially appearing on the David Letterman show. All that hype was fun for a few weeks, but it has calmed down a lot since then. Succeeding on the world stage seems such a long way away when you are young and growing up in Australia, and I think that makes it all the more satisfying. It’s really amazing to even play in the majors let alone win one. But now I am looking toward our summer and playing for an appreciative home crowd. I m really hoping for a win on Aussie soil.
