Massey wins Victorian Women’s Stroke Play

courtesy: Golf Victoria Queenslander Courtney Massey got her 2011 off to a strong start with a 3 stroke win at the Victorian Women&aposs 72 Hole Strokeplay Championship at Heidelberg Golf Club. The title saw some of the best Australian Amateurs competing with ages as low as 12 years old and handicaps as low as +4. The golf course was in superb condition and with undulating greens and sloping fairways, presenting a true test for the players. Massey was off to a great start from Day 1 and shot 70 (4 under), the lowest round over the four days. Her strong performance continued for the rest of the tournament and while players like Grace Lennon, Jessica Speechley and Su-Hyun Oh were on her tail, they ended up coming short by few shots. Massey finished the championship 3 shots clear of Speechley with a total of 293 strokes. Heidelberg members and spectators were delighted with the tournament and their cooperation made this event a total sucess! Damon Selwyn (General Manger) and Janette Borgolotto (Lady Captain) worked shoulder to shoulder with Golf Victoria&aposs staff and volunteers to make this event the perfect start for 2011.
