Masters Fourball Championship

On Friday 15th March The Masters Fourball Championship was held at Muirfield Golf Club. There were 108 entries from a wide range of metropolitan clubs and also included The Hunter and Central Coast regions. The day was pleasant weather wise, the Course in great condition, leading to some excellent scores on the day. The major event of the day was won by Robert Payne and Wayne Carpenter from Oatlands with an excellent score of 45 pts scratch, (25 pts on the front nine). The runners-up were Russ Lowenthal and Dale Tapper from Bayview with 40 pts. The handicap winners from Manly Club were Marc Larcombe and Keith Mackensie (48 pts). The handicap runners-up were Roseville s Greg Macnamara and David Hatch (45 pts). This event is run annually by The Masters Pennant and is well supported by our Senior golfers as a variation from the normal singles match-play competition, which will commence late April/early May this year with 96 clubs competing. Good luck to all the clubs and let us hope for fine weather in 2013.
