Masters profile: Bryden Macpherson

It’s been a whirlwind 10 months for Bryden Macpherson since he defeated Scot Michael Stewart at the British Amateur Championship and earned his Masters invitation. After winning in England s North West, Macpherson headed to the East of England to Royal St George s in July for The Open Championship where he performed well but fell agonisingly below the cut line after bogeys at 17 and 18. It was nonetheless impressive and experienced players including Padraig Harrington, Lee Westwood, Justin Leonard and Hunter Mahan joined Macpherson at 4 over. For Macpherson, Georgia, indeed Augusta, is familiar territory. Around 18 months ago he moved to the University of Georgia and competed for the Bulldogs in the NCAA. He’s played Augusta National before as part of his time at Georgia. In addition to his Masters start, Macpherson has earned an exemption into this year s US Open at the Olympic Club in San Francisco as the USGA expanded their exemptions to include the current men’s British Amateur champion. Although, there s nothing quite like Augusta National, Georgia is certainly Macpherson s home away from home. 2011 Rounds: NA Final Position: NA Masters History: 2012 – Debut
