Nominee Name: Daniel Martin MYGolf Centre: Ballina Golf & Sports Club Age: 13 Daniel Martin was first introduced to the game of golf by his dad who would often hit the course on a Sunday with his friends. Thinking it looked like fun, Daniel asked his father if he could play as well which led to contact being made with Ballina about their junior program. Martin has been involved with Ballina s program since February 2012 and according to Centre Coordinator Paul Wilson, he is incredibly committed and yet to miss a session. I have even seen Daniel standing on the putting green in the pouring rain! Wilson said. Martin is a great example for the other juniors and shows what can be achieved if they put they work in. He shows the other juniors that he plays with how committed he is, Wilson said. This commitment and desire to improve has seen Martin progress from playing three holes, to five holes and now nine holes in just twelve months and has already achieved his bronze and silver MYGolf certificates. Martin also featured alongside 2012 MYGolfer of the Year Toni McDuff as a winner at the Ballina Junior Open, taking out the nine hole nett event with a score of 30, six below his handicap!
