Nominee Name: Zane Lewis MYGolf Centre: Royal Fremantle Golf Club State: WA Age: 10 Favourite golfer and why? Jason Day – Excellent putter! Why should Zane be the May MYGolfer of the Month? Acording to his Father, Zane developed a passion for golf at a very early age and would hit an enormous amount of plastic golf balls in the family backyard! After wearing out three sets of plastic golf clubs he graduated to metal clubs and has rapidly moved forward ever since. Zane joined Royal Fremantle Golf Club in March 2010 and began working with the Cadet training program which entailed two hour sessions twice a week under the supervision of the club&aposs resident professionals. His natural ability was recognised immediately and his rate of improvement was so exceptional that he was invited to play in the Sunday morning junior competitions from November 2011 at the age of nine. Initially Zane had a handicap of 33 but this has been very quickly reduced to 24 in the space of nine months. He has participated in all six MYGolf Tour Events and managed to claim back to back victories! Zane is now also playing in all the junior open events at away venues and shot gross 91 at Hartfield Country Club. In addition to this, Zane is a consistent performer in the club junior competitions and regularly finishes in the top three each week. Royal Fremantle Junior Coordinator, Neil Cleary, describes Zane as “a very likeable young lad” whose wholehearted enthusiasm and passion for the game is evidenced by the fact that he plays and practices nearly every day of the week. Popular within his peer group at Royal Fremantle, Zane shows maturity beyond his years and has made many friends not only at his home club but also on the MYGolf Tour. Given all of this, it comes as no surprise that Zane has been selected in the Royal Fremantle 2012 Junior Pennant squad and is likely to represent the club this year. There is no doubt that Zane is an impressive young golfer and he was highly recommended by both Neil and Royal Fremantle for this award. Congratulations Zane!!
