Mazda Victoria signs as naming rights sponsor of Four-Ball

In a major coup for Golf Victoria, Mazda Victoria, in conjunction with Above Par Events has signed a three-year agreement as naming rights sponsor of the Mazda Victorian Four-Ball Championship. The agreement will run for the 2015, 2016 and 2017 events which annually host up to 2,000 participants competing across 20 qualifying venues prior to the State Final.

The exciting new sponsorship will see the introduction of a brand new Mazda on offer as a prize for any participant who records a hole-in-one on the designated par 3 at all qualifying events and the State Final.

Played throughout January to March, the Mazda Victorian Four-Ball Championship provides golfers holding an official handicap the opportunity to compete with a partner in a Four-Ball format event. The leading men’s, women’s and mixed pairs from all qualifying events will advance to the State Final, played over 36 holes at the Sorrento and The National Golf Clubs in late March 2015.

Mazda State Manager for Victoria, James Rosengarten spoke about the decision to partner with the Four-Ball Championship and is excited to add an increased level of prestige to the event.

“We’re excited to be teaming up with Golf Victoria to sponsor the Mazda Victorian Four-Ball Championship. We aim to make cars that embody Mazda’s Zoom-Zoom philosophy and are fun to drive, and we hope that this event allows participants to have the same level of enjoyment on the golf course as they can on the open road,” said Rosengarten.

From 1997 to 2004, Mazda were previously the naming rights sponsor of the Victorian Four-Ball Championship when the event was run by the former Victorian Golf Association.

Simon Brookhouse, Golf Victoria CEO is excited by the announcement and believes the opportunities that Mazda will provide will drive an increased number of participants.

“We’re very pleased to be teaming up with Mazda for the next three years. The Mazda Victorian Four-Ball Championship is an iconic amateur event and attracts our highest participation numbers of any event at Golf Victoria. With the introduction of having a brand new Mazda up for grabs for anyone who is lucky enough to record a hole-in-one on a nominated par 3 across all venues, I have no doubt this will add to the interest of the event.

“We thank Mazda for their commitment to Victorian golf and look forward to working with them in delivering a fantastic event over the coming years,” said Brookhouse.

Mazda Victorian Four-Ball Championship posters will be distributed to golf clubs from late August. Entries to the event will be open from mid-October.
