McCarthy canters home in Tasmania

National squad member and Seabrook golfer Ryan McCarthy has taken out the 2009 ANZ Tasmanian Open Golf Championship. The 19-year-old won the national trial event by a massive six strokes with rounds of 69, 68, 69 and 68, a 72-hole total of 274 (-14). Fellow Tasmanian Kalem Richardson from the Riverside Golf Club placed second on 280 (-8) with scores of 71, 66, 71 and 72. Third place went to New South Welshman Scott Arnold on seven-under-par. In the two-man teams event, New South Wales claimed the prized Don Cameron Shield with an aggregate score of 586. Tasmania ran second on 576.
