McCarthy run ends in final 16 at US Amateur

CLICK HERE TO SEE US AMATEUR SCORING Tasmanian and Golf Australia National Squad member Ryan McCarthy had his US Amateur campaign ended by Scott Langley in the Round of 16 at Chambers Bay Golf Club. McCarthy, a former Trans Tasman Cup and Southern Cross Cup Australian representative, defeated South Carolina&aposs Daniel Bowden in the Round of 64 and Maryland&aposs Brent Martin in the Round of 32 He lost 6&4 to Scott Langley – who played in the US Open Championship at Pebble Beach in June. McCarthy opened the championship stroke play rounds with a 3-over par 74 at Chambers Bay Golf Club but bounced back with a 3-under par 69 on the Home Course – the assisting course for the championship. Western Australian Jason Scrivener finished agonisingly short of the match play section, missing the cut by one stroke. Scrivener had posted a second round 68 following his opening round 82. Korean born Melbourne resident Jin Jeong missed the cut with rounds of 74 and 79.
