Helen Pascoe has separated herself from the women’s field after day 1 of the Shepparton Senior Amateur.
The current leader of the women’s scratch stableford rankings for 2019 started shakily with wipes on her first and fourth holes.
Pascoe would find her groove playing the next nine holes one under par and finishing with 28 scratch stableford points for the day.
Her score gives her a twelve-shot lead over Kay Barcelon.
Pascoe also leads the stableford section on 31 points with a one-shot lead over local Shepparton member Suzy Phillips-Limon.
The men’s section will be hotly contested tomorrow with nine players within two shots of the lead.
Ian McCleary is the man to catch after his first round of 77.
McCleary had an up and down day with four birdies and one eagle mixed in with four double bogeys.
Shepparton’s Rob Woodhouse will be one of many hoping to catch McCleary tomorrow as he sits one behind in outright second.
The men’s net also sees Woodhouse as one of the main chances as he sits equal with William Gerrard after the pair finished on 72.
