McDonald, Bray & McAuliffe claim victories at Sandhurst

It was a Sandhurst showdown today for the final round of the inaugural Sandhurst Senior Amateur.

David McDonald (Sandhurst) capitalised on his overnight lead to take home the title by two shots from fellow member Bryce Birtwistle. In blustery conditions on the challenging Champions Course, McDonald carded a 5 over 77 for a two round total of 150 to claim victory.

Metropolitan member Paul Bray demonstrated solid form with a convincing four shot lead on the field to win the nett section. The 6 marker carded solid rounds of nett 72 and 70 for a 36-hole total of 142. Next best was 2014 Paul Lulofs 65+ champion Brian Gray from Rossdale with a nett 146.

In the women’s section, Christine McAuliffe (Sandhurst) finished with 59 points to win by 2 shots from compatriot Mandy Adamson (Sandhurst) on 57 points. Adamson won the count-back from Glenda Williams, also from Sandhurst.

Thank you to the Sandhurst Club for a true test of golf on their 36-hole manicured layout. The next event on the Senior calendar is the Alpine Senior Masters up at Bright Country Golf Club on Thursday 19 – Friday 20 March.
