McKenzie finishes 12th

Australian David McKenzie has finished seven shots adrift of winner Scott Gutschewski at the Rex Hospital Open in Raleigh, North Carolina. McKenzie signed off for a one-under-par final round of 70 to finish the Nationwide Tour event in a share of 12th position on seven-under. Compatriot Aron Price was a shot further back on six under in equal 21st. The fourth day belonged to Gutschewski as he carded a five-under par 66 to storm home from equal fifth to take out the title. The American reeled off six birdies and conceded just one bogey on the 8th to finish two strokes clear of compatriot Chad Ginn (12 under) and Mexican Esteban Toledo (12 under). Overnight leaders Matt Every and Fran Quinn both experienced final rounds they&aposd rather forget. Every capitulated to register a three-over par 74 which saw him finish four strokes off Gutschewski on 10-under while Quinn totally self-destructed with a six-over par fourth round of 77 to end up equal with McKenzie and seven others.
