Metropolitan Major Pennant wrap

DIVISION ONE

St Michael’s Golf Club have got their 2017 Metropolitan Pennant Season underway in the best possible way with a resounding four matches to 3 away win against defending Champions, Bonnie Doon.

St. Michael’s John Lyras and Samuel Costa were the pick of the winners for the Maroubra Club, with 4&3 and 4&2 wins respectively.

Macquarie Links trio Jason Webb, Darren Cummins and Lee Zelesco recorded strong results for the South Western based club in their 4 1/2 to 2 1/2 win against Mona Vale.

2016 Finalists, Concord Golf Club, had a 4 1/2 to 2 1/2 win against Pennant Hills. Mitchell Norbis and Joshua Gadd recorded wins of 6&5 and 5&4 for Concord, in a sign that the team is ready to go a step further in this year's competition.

Pymble Golf Club recorded a sharp 4 to 3 win against Liverpool Golf Club. Joseph Trinder recorded an 8&7 result while Corey Jones, Harry Waddington and Craig Green were also big winners

iLiverpool Golf Club will hold plenty of good memories for the Northern Suburbs club in next week&aposs return leg. The bulk of this year’s Major Pennant side were part of the team that won last year’s Eric Apperly Shield at the same course last year.

The Australian Golf Club ran away with a big win against Ryde Parramtta. Strong performances came from the middle of the Kensington team&aposs lineup with Zach Mullins, Isaac Noh and Justin Warren all recording comfortable 5&3, 5&4 and 5&4 results.

Bankstown accounted for Castle Hill 4 1/2 to 2 1/2, with Luis Killen the pick of the winners for Bankstown with a 6&5 result. Riley Cody and Jack Carmichael contributed with 5&4 results also.

Long Reef gave Avondale little joy in their match, winning easily 5 1/2 to 1 1/2. The Northern Beaches Club’s best were Clayton Small and Mark Cruise, who both had handy 4&3 wins.

2016 Semi-finalists Moore Park proved too strong for NSW at Moore Park, winning 4 1/2 to 2 1/2. Best for the City Club we’re Logan Toms and Clancy Bowl, who both recorded 5&4 wins.

DIVISION TWO

Mark Hancock led the way with a 4&2 win for Stonecutters Ridge over Twin Creeks, while Royal Sydney had an easy five matches to 2 win over North Ryde. Mathew Doughty lead the way for Royal with a 4&2 win.

Cabramatta dominated Fox Hills 6 1/2 matches to 1/2 with Cameron Glenday winning 5&3 while Cromer accounted for Muirfield at Muirfield 5 matches to 2. James Ponder was the standout for Cromer with a big 7&5 win.

In Section three, Bayview defeated Killara 4 matches to 3, with Dale Tapper leading the way for Bayview with an excellent 5&4 win, while Lynwood’s Darren Barlow had a 6&5 win over Charlie Bolte from Monash in Lynwood’s five matches to 2 win.

The Lakes Easily accounted for Oatlands 5 1/2 to 1 1/2 at the Lakes, with the 2017 Avondale Medal winner Josh Armstrong proving too strong for Bradley Doherty 4&2. Cronulla took apart Antill Park in a one-sided affair 6 Matches to 1. Mitchell Finnegan was the standout with a 5&4 win.

DIVISION THREE

Manly proved too strong for New Brighton at home 6 1/2 to 1/2. Finlay Bellingham led the way, winning 9&8. Carnarvon defeated Kogarah 6 matches to 1, in a tight affair. Sean Moylan and Glenn Osborne winning their matches 3&2.?
Wallacia and Cumberland played out a 3 1/2 all draw, while Camden Lakeside had an easy win over Wakehurst 6 1/2 to 1/2.

Massey Park and Camden had a 3 1/2 all draw against Camden in pool three, while in Pool Four despite Sunday’s harsh conditions, Woolooware easily accounted for Glenmore Heritage 6 1/2 to 1/2. Woolooware’s Tim Norris and Chris Jamieson took their matches by 5&4 and 5&3 respectively.

DIVISION FOUR

Riverside Oaks dominated Leonay 7 matches to Nil. Evan Wallace’s 6&4 win for the Oaks was a standout. In the other Pool game, Palm Beach accounted for Roseville 5 to 2. Oliver Hugill led the way for the Peninsula club with a 5&4 win.

Asquith had no trouble with Marrickville winning 7 to nil, while Bardwell Valley defeated Cammeray 5 1/2 to 1 1/2. Ian Elliott and Lester Peterson were winners for the Valley, 6&5.

In Pool Four, Windsor took care of Bexley 6 matches to 1, Dale Farrugia for Windsor winning 6&5, while Warringah defeated The Coast 5 matches to 2. Sam Matheson for Warringah led the way with a 6&5 win.

Northbridge recorded a nice away win against Rosnay, five matches to 2, with Northbridge's Daniel Lewis winning 4&3.

DIVISION 5

Kareela defeated Chatswood 6/1, with Glenn Reid winning 5&3. Hurstville beat Gordon 4 1/2 to 2 1/2, Robert Plowes winning 7&6. Bardwell Park beat Strathfield with Michael Williams winning 8&6, and Randwick accounted for their neighbours, Bondi, with a six matches to 1 result. Craig MC Mahon, Joshua Todd, and Peter Cox all winning by a handy 7&6 margin.
