Metropolitan Pennants – Simpson Cup Rd 3 Results

Grange&aposs Tom Bond was impressive in his team&aposs win over Thaxted Park Royal Adelaide have shot to the top of the Simpson Cup table following a 6-1 demolition of hosts Kooyonga in the third round of the 2011 Men&aposs Pennant season. In other third round matches, The Grange completed their second 7-0 clean sweep in three weeks disposing of Thaxted Park, while Tea Tree Gully were equaling impressive in defeating Blackwood 6-1. Glenelg registered their first points of the season with a much improved performance in a tightly fought 3 1/2 all draw against Flagstaff Hill. Following last week&aposs draw against Flagstaff Hill, Royal Adelaide stepped up a gear in a dominant display against Kooyonga, with Alex Curtin, Henry Perks, Nathan Balderstone, Jake Austin, Ben Stowe and Brad Moules all recording relatively easy victories. Kooyonga&aposs only response to Adelaide&aposs onslaught came via Danny Speirs who completed a surprising 7 & 6 win against Matt Overall. Having gone down to Tea Tree Gully by the narrowest of margins the previous week, The Grange were back to their best with a clean sweep of their matches against the hitherto competitive Thaxted Park. Sam Masters, Anthony Murdaca and Tom Bond all completed big wins while the final match between Chris Brown and Ben Leske proved the most exciting, with Brown hanging on up the last for a 1-up win. Glenelg recorded their first result of the 2011 season with a much improved 3 1/2 all draw against Flagstaff Hill. Moe Nagi continued his impressive recent form with a 3 & 2 win over Jacob Sewell while former professionals Jarrad Roxby and Mikhal Radibratovic were equally impressive in recording 3&1 and 5&4 wins respectively. Tea Tree Gully continued the momentum from last week&aposs win over The Grange with a 6-1 win over Blackwood, with Brett Crosby and Luke Steele recording runaway and captain Chris Austin kept his unbeaten record for the season in tact with a hard fought 2-up win against Andy Humphries. After three rounds Royal Adelaide lead the Simpson Cup table from The Grange, with Tea Tree Gully in third. Flagstaff Hill move into fourth while Kooyonga, who lead the table after round two, have dropped to fifth following yesterday&aposs loss. Next week&aposs round four clash is hosted by Blackwood with the home side taking on Kooyonga, Tea Tree Gully playing Flagstaff Hill and Glenelg playing Thaxted Park.
