Metropolitan Pennants – Simpson Cup Rd 4 Results

Royal Adelaide&aposs Ben Stowe was victorious in his team&aposs draw against The Grange Tea Tree Gully have jumped to the top of the Simpson Cup leaderboard following a 5 – 2 victory over Flagstaff Hill in the forth round of Metropolitan Pennants. In other round four matches, Kooyonga defeated Blackwood 4 1/2 to 2 1/2, Glenelg defeated Thaxted Park 6 to 1, and Royal Adelaide drew with The Grange 3 1/2 all. Strong performances by Ryan White and Luke Steele set Tea Tree Gully on the path to their comfortable 5-2 win over Flagstaff Hill, although Brett Crosby (1 up) Greg Blewett (2 & 1) and Chris Austin (1 up) were all forced to work hard for their eventual victories. The win sees the defending champions climb to the top of the leaderboard from third position on the back of last week&aposs comprehensive win over Blackwood. As expected little separated Royal Adelaide and The Grange throughout their round four clash, although it was The Grange who had there noses in front heading into the final matches following hard fought 1-up wins to Jake Laubsch, Matthew Lisk and Sam Masters. With Matt Overall and Chris Brown squaring their match, it was up to top seeds Ben Stowe and Brad Moules to salvage the contest for Royal Adelaide, and they did so decisively with Stowe holding off Anthony Murdaca 2-up and Moules again impressive in a 4&3 win over Tom Bond. Glenelg continued their positive form reversal from round 3 with a comprehensive 6 – 1 win over Thaxted Park. Nick Roper continued his unbeaten run for the season in leading his team out with a 4&3 win over Carl Dixon while Andrew Grzybowski, Ben Hollis, Moe Nagi and Troy Moses also recorded solid victories. Kooyonga bounced back well following last week&aposs drubbing by Royal Adelaide, to record a 4 1/2 – 2 1/2 win over hosts Blackwood. Nick Deutrum, Sam Gava, Tim Baker and Heath Riches all recorded wins for Kooyonga while Aaron Amos was the standout for Blackwood in registering a solid 4 & 2 win over Geoff Brennan. After four rounds, Tea Tree Gully lead the Simpson Cup table from Royal Adelaide, with Kooyonga sitting third and The Grange forth. Next week&aposs round five matches are hosted by Royal Adelaide with the hosts taking on Glenelg, Flagstaff Hill playing Kooyonga, Grange playing Blackwood and Tea Tree Gully playing Thaxted Park.
