Alex Curtin was in good form for Royal Adelaide in round five of the Simpson Cup Tea Tree Gully have consolidated their lead at the top of the SImpson Cup table following a 7-0 demolition of Thaxted Park in the fifth round of Metropolitan Pennants. In other round five matches, Grange defeated Blackwood, Kooyonga defeated Flagstaff Hill and Royal Adelaide defeated Glenelg to all remain in contention for a finals berth. Now unbeaten since round one, it was two of Tea Tree Gully&aposs younger members, Jacin Cook and Zak Fuller, who set their side on the path for a decisive win over Thaxted Park on the weekend. Cook defeating Carl Dixon 3&2 and Fuller defeating Kieren Barratt 2&1, while Brett Crosby, Greg Blewett and Chris Austin also recorded solid victories to complete Tea Tree&aposs clean sweep. Having fought hard for a draw against Grange in round four, Royal Adelaide were back to their dominant best in defeating Glenelg 6 1/2 – 1/2. Troy Moses registered the only point for Glenelg, halving his match with Henry Perks, while Alex Curtin, Nathan Baulderstone, Ben Stowe and Brad Moules were again in solid form for Royal Adelaide. Kooyonga remain in the hunt for a finals spot after a decisive 5-2 win over Flagstaff Hill. Jarad Roxby was in fine form for Flagstaff, defeating Daniel Speirs 2-up, while Heath Riches was dominant for Kooyonga in the final match with an impressive 6&5 win over Jacob Sewell. Charles Shaw and Tim Baker fought hard for 1-up wins against James Coulson and Mikhal Radibratovic respectively. Grange defeated Blackwood 5 1/2 to 1 1/2, with Jake Laubsch (8&6 over Lee Cole) and Alex Hendrick (9&8 over Daniel Loveridge) recording two of the biggest wins likely to be seen this season. After five rounds Tea Tree Gully lead the Simpson Cup table with Royal Adelaide sitting a close second and Kooyonga third. Next week&aposs penultimate round sees hosts Glenelg play Tea Tree Gully, Flagstaff Hill playing Thaxted Park and Blackwood playing Royal Adelaide.
