Glenelg&aposs Moe Nagi squared his match with Tea Tree Gully&aposs Greg Blewett in round 6 Royal Adelaide lead the Simpson Cup table heading into next week&aposs final of the 2011 Metropolitan Pennant season. In yesterday&aposs round six matches, Royal Adelaide defeated Blackwood, Grange defeated Kooyonga and Flagstaff Hill defeated Thaxted Park, while the match of the round was played out between Tea Tree Gully and hosts Glenelg who drew their fixture. Despite Royal Adelaide holding top position, four teams are statistically in with a chance of making the final on July 3 with Grange, Tea Tree Gully and Kooyonga all sitting within a match of the leaders. Royal Adelaide continued their recent dominant form with a solid 5 1/2 to 1 1/2 victory over Blackwood. For Kooyonga, Alex Curtin, Nathan Baulderstone, Ben Stowe and captain Brad Moules all recorded comfortable wins while Nick Wake was Blackwood&aposs only standout performer recording a deserved 4&3 victory over Matt Overall. In another solid team performance, The Grange defeated Kooyonga 5 1/2 to 1 1/2 with Jake Laubsch, Sam Masters, Chris Brown, Alex Hendrick and Tom Bond all recording individual wins. Kooyonga&aposs solitary win came courtesy of John Hayes. Thaxted Park look destined for demotion after surrendering another clean sweep to Flagstaff Hill, with Flagstaff&aposs leading trio of Mikhal Radibratovic, Jarrad Roxby and Jacob Sewell all recording comfortable wins. The match of the round however was played out between the vastly improved Glenelg and Tea Tree Gully, the latter having top seeds Greg Blewett and Chris Austin to thanks for salvaging the squared match. Glenelg looked well on track for an upset after Nick Roper, Ben Magi and Ben Hollis had put their team in the box seat. A hard fought squared match between Blewett and Moe Nagi meant that the result hinged on the final match, with Tea Tree Gully captain Chris Austin needing all his experience to record a 3&2 win over Troy Moses. Next week&aposs final round hosted at The Grange sees the home side taking on Flagstaff Hill, Kooyonga playing Thaxted Park, Glenelg playing Blackwood and Tea Tree Gully playing a vital match against Royal Adelaide.
