Earlier in 2007, Golf Australia hosted the inaugural Australian MFS Men&aposs Mid Amateur Championship. Now it&aposs the women&aposs turn to shine! The inaugural Women&aposs Mid-Amateur Championship will be held in conjunction with the Australian Women&aposs Senior Championship in Adelaide, 10-12 October. Golf Australia Director of Championships Trevor Herden said, “Our team is looking forward to conducting the inaugural Australian Women&aposs Mid-Amateur Championship, in conjunction with the Australian Women&aposs Senior Amateur Championship. Combining these two events on one golf course will provide a great atmosphere for a national championship and we are fortunate to be able to play the event at the beautiful Glenelg Golf Club”. If the strength of the field at the MFS Men&aposs Mid-Amateur is any indication, this group of 30 to 54 year olds will be highly competitive over the 54 holes stroke play. The Australian Women&aposs Senior Amateur will retain its 36-hole qualifying format, with the top 16 women moving on to the match play section of the Championship.
