About the Events

Discussions on a Sand Greens Championship for South Australia began in August 1981 by the then South Australian Golf Association (SAGA).  The eventual model adopted was based on that used by New South Wales and Victoria.  The inaugural Sand Greens Championship was held at the Port Pirie Golf Club on 25-26 Sep 1982 with a Trophy provided by the Association. The Entry Fee was $5. A Division started in 1982 while a B Division was included in 2007.

The Country District Pennant competition comprises of the eight Country Districts, as designated by Golf SA, drawn into two Divisions (A & B). Both the Men's and Women's teams from each District will be in the same Division and teams must comprise five nominated male players and three nominated female players.

The seeding of each District Team will be determined on their placing in the Combined Teams Total Table from the previous year

Eligible players for the event are male and female amateur golfers whose home club (the body which has primary responsibility for ensuring the proper administration of a player’s handicap) is a Member Club of a Country District affiliated with Golf SA.  However an eligible player can only represent the Country District in which their Home Club is a member in accordance with the Golf SA's Constitution.
