Micheluzzi into British Am quarters

Victorian David Micheluzzi is into the quarter-finals of the British Amateur at Royal Aberdeen in Scotland.

Micheluzzi defeated American Blake Wagoner in his round of 16 match yesterday and is the last Australian into the top eight.

The 21-year-old is ranked 17th on the world amateur rankings, and is the reigning Master of the Amateur champion and Victorian amateur champion.

He was also part of Metropolitan Golf Club’s Melbourne pennant triumph this year and was the lynchpin of Victoria’s win in the Golf Australia interstate series in Perth.

He will meet Conor Purcel, from Ireland’s Portmarnock, in the quarter-finals.

The quarter-finals will be played later today (AEST) immediately followed by the semi-finals tonight.
