The second and final Doris Chambers State Finals was played today at a windy Sanctuary Lakes Club with 140 women club qualifiers competing.
Each Golf Victoria affiliated club wishing to take part in the Foursomes Stableford competition plays a club qualifying round on its own course with the winners advancing to one of two finals, dependent on the clubs’ location.
While winds were strong throughout the day, the sun was predominant creating warmish conditions. It was Mildura pair Bev Stone & Elaine Henshall claiming State Final #2 with a Foursomes Stableford score of 39 points. The pair were convincing champions with the next best score at 33 points, which was recorded by Skipton pair Glenis Keilar & Helen Mason from the morning field.
Runners Up in the PM field were Lake Bolac pair Raelene Watson & Una Allender who carded 32 points, the third best score of the day. AM Runners Up were Lee Boulton & Josie Kirkman (Rich River) with 31 points.
Stone & Henshall will now get their names engraved next to Dunes members Rigutto & Hudd who were victorious in State Final #1.
The Greg Norman designed Sanctuary Lakes Club, was in great condition despite the heavy rain falls of late. While players found the going a little difficult, it didn’t faze all the prize winners. Special thanks are given to both Gardiners Run & Sanctuary Lakes for hosting the Doris Chambers State Finals.
