Wade Ormsby maintained his status as the leading Australian as Matthew Millar surged into the top 10 heading into the closing 36 holes at the European Tour&aposs qualifying school in Spain. Millar, who started the day in a share of 40th place, rocketed up the leaderboard with a blistering six-under-par 65 to move into a tie for 10th at nine-under. Ormsby, meanwhile, shot a one-under 71 to take a share of seventh place. On a day when 73 players made the cut for the final two rounds, England&aposs Danny Willett finally overhauled long-time leader Oskar Henningsson to move into top spot. The Yorkshire rookie, who surged through the field with a 63 during Saturday&aposs third round, posted a 70 for a 16-under total of 270, enough for a one-stroke lead in the race for the 30 tour cards up for grabs. Former world amateur No.1 Willett bounced back from a double-bogey at the 10th, where he four-putted from 35 feet, with a birdie on the closing hole lifting him ahead of Henningsson (74). “It was an up and down one today and the four-putt was not what I wanted but I managed to get my head back on and played really well over the last eight holes,” said Willett. “The target is obviously to finish as high as possible because you want to give yourself as many opportunities to get into tournaments as you can.” “In the nicest possible way, it would be good to win here and then never come back again.” Sweden&aposs Ake Nilsson is a further stroke behind, while Norway&aposs Eirik Tage Johansen and Austria&aposs Bernd Wiesberger are in a tie for fourth on 13-under. New Zealand&aposs Gareth Paddison (67) and Aussies Tony Carolan (74) and Michael Curtain (69) also advanced to the final two rounds. But there was heartbreak for Anthony Summers, whose fourth-round 75 saw him slip from equal 40th to miss the final cut by just one shot. Compatriots Andrew Tampion, Steven Jeffress and Jarrod Moseley also missed out.
