Minjee Lee begins today’s final round of the Honda LPGA Thailand tournament with a great chance of securing her fifth tour victory.
Lee made a long, curling, downhill birdie putt at the par-five 18th hole on Saturday to regain a share of the lead with South Korea’s Amy Yang at 15-under par.
The Western Australian star, this country’s highest-ranked golfer and the reigning Greg Norman medallist from 2018, had spent most of the third round either with the outright lead or a share of the lead, on her way to a five-under par 67.
“I feel pretty solid,” she said afterward. “I've been holing a couple more putts this week than the other two weeks that I played, so that's a good sign. I have been hitting it pretty solid, so that's pretty nice, too.”
Lee is ranked seventh in the world and may well find herself in the top five for the first time if she can win today.
Yang, a six-time winner on tour, is an obvious threat along with ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open victor Nelly Korda, who moved out of the pack into a tie for fourth on Saturday, just three shots back.
