Mitchell named Chairman of Golf NSW

Peter Mitchell has been elected unopposed as Chairman of Golf NSW for 2017/18.

Mr Mitchell has been a board member of Golf NSW since 2015 and has served as chairman of the Match Committee since 2016. He is currently on the Board of the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation, and is a Governor of the NSW Golf Foundation.

Growing the game across the state’s regional and rural areas is vital for the sport’s well-being according to Mr Mitchell.

“Growing Country golf is one of my main goals,” Mr Mitchell said.

“I do a lot of travelling across the state playing golf and I enjoy nothing more than seeing the game grow in our smaller clubs and towns."

Mr Mitchell also believes we all have a part in promoting the sport and is hoping to see the game grow through engagement in the education system.

“Encouraging people back to the game is everyone’s responsibility and growing the game will happen. Growing our sport in schools is going to be a priority in the coming years," he said.

A licenced Real Estate Agent, Mr Mitchell is a member of the historic Duntryleague Golf Club in Orange and has sat on the club’s board on four occasions. He has represented the Central West District Golf Association and has been the Secretary Treasurer of the district since 2006.
