Australia has finished in a tie for 12th place at The Spirit International tournament in Texas. The Australian squad were tied with South Africa at a combined 16-under-par for the tournament. The Australian men&aposs team- Ryan McCarthy (TAS) and Daniel Beckmann (VIC), finished in 10th place at 18-under par on the men&aposs leaderboard. Combined, McCarthy and Beckmann finished with rounds of 68-69-66 and 67 but were nine strokes behind winners Italy at 27-under par. The Italian team included 2009 British Amateur champion Matteo Manassero. In the women&aposs tournament, the Australian team of Whitney Hillier and Justine Lee finished in 17th place at 2-over par. The United States women&aposs team, led by manager and World Number 6 Paula Creamer, finished at 24-under par and were led exceptionally by 14-year old star Alexis Thompson. Thompson became the youngest woman in history to qualify for a US Women&aposs Open when she made the final field in 2007 at the age of just 12. She also qualified for the US Women&aposs Open in 2008 and 2009 and made the cut this year.
