Monash Cup & Joan Fisher Plate Underway

Play has commenced in the 2015 edition of the Monash Cup and Joan Fisher Plate with fifty six men & ten ladies teeing off this morning at The Metropolitan Golf Club.

The event is played over seventy two holes at both The Metropolitan and Huntingdale Golf Clubs with thirty six holes played at each venue over two days.

The event is named in honour of Sir John Monash who was a member at The Metropolitan Golf Club in the 1920’s. Monash’s achievements included being Commander of the Australian Imperial Forces and master tactician along with undertaking the role of Commissioner for the State Electricity Commission.

The Joan Fisher Plate in its 26th year was named in recognition of Joan Fisher, one of Australia’s greatest amateur golfers with a competitive State and National representative career spanning over 30 years.

With ideal conditions predicted on two of Australia’s finest layouts low scores are expected to dominate the top of the leaderboard.
