Monash Country Club have taken out the Women’s Division 1 grade Pennant with a thrilling win in the final round of the competition over Concord Golf Club 4 matches to 1.
“It’s been 28 years since our last flag win, and it’s pretty special,” Monash Team Manager Barb Philips said.
Monash had to defeat Concord in the final match of the year at the Australian Golf Club to ensure the title. It was Monash number 2 player Bev Button that ensured the result after she rallied from 3 down early, eventually wining on the 18th.
“There was a big crowd following Bev. She was the last player out on the course. It was a wonderful win in the end and a very exciting year. We’re looking forward to next year now,” Mrs Philips said.
Division 2

Moore Park clinched the Division 2 Pennant with a 4 Matches to 1 win over Avondale Golf Club.
The win completed a perfect 7 wins from 7 starts for the city club and ensured their elevation into the Division 1 Grade Pennant in 2017.
“We’ ve had five wins in a row from Division 6 to Division 2 from 2012 to 2016,” a delighted team captain Elsie Pathmanathan said.
Anna Booth and Nikki Haines starred for the city team after they went through the season undefeated.
Division 3

Cromer Golf Club grabbed the Division 3 title by half a point from Castle Hill Country Club after the Northern Beaches club held on to defeat Royal Sydney 3 matches to 2 in the final round.
Kym English for Cromer managed a resounding 4 and 3 win in the final match of the year, which allowed her to remain undefeated for the season.
Division 4
Woolooware grabbed the Division 4 flag after a four-way count-back between themselves, Muirfield, Long Reef, and their close neighbours, Cronulla.
All four teams notched a win in the final round of competition, however Woolooware’s big 4 matches to 1 win over Mona Vale sealed the title for the Southern club.
Suanne Sutherland had a perfect season with 7 wins along the way.
Division 5

Kogarah grabbed the Division 5 pennant on a count-back from Asquith Golf Club after the teams finished level on 3 points apiece.
Kogarah’s final 3 matches to 2 win over Marrickville was enough to take the title after Asquith could only equal them with a 3 to 2 result over Massey Park.
Dinah Moran got through the season undefeated for Kogarah.
